Books

Did I tell you I read The Help recently and absolutely loved it?? Well, I did.

Now, I am on the search for more great summer reads. Any suggestions??

Well, if you're reading my lj, you know I'm reading Jamison's 'An Unquiet Mind.' Being the excellent story of her manic-depression (that I can't recommend highly enough), it's not really light fluffy summer reading, which makes it a perfect vacation book for you! *w* The other one I'm reading is 'A Suitable Boy' by Vikram Seth (I think that's his first name; it's at home and I am not), but it's 1300 pages long and I'm not sure I'll finish it before it's due back.

However, if you want what normal people read, might I suggest Jennifer Crusie? Funny, smart, easy to read with great characters. Or so I think...

I'm off tomorrow and friday, we should talk, call whenever, and I do mean whenever.

love you muchly,
christina

Great - I was wondering what that was like! I am half-way through "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot which is about the woman behind the development of the first immortal cancer cell line (HeLa), but is also about racism and medicine in the US and the ethics of research. Thought you might find it interesting. The most beautiful book I've read recently is a bit of an oldie - Light Years by James Salter. Also, if you want something light and funny One Day by David Nicholls is hilarious, sweet, romantic and amazing!

Christina, I also love A Suitable Boy - amazing!
